About
Disobedience Press is a small imprint that publishes books on the topic of disobedience, resistance, and the capacity to say “no” to power. Expressions of dissent are at the heart of constructive social transformation and democracy.
Disobedience Press amplifies the voices of those who write about censorship, threats to intellectual and academic freedom, the relationships between racism and capitalism, institutional betrayal, the far-right fascist movements in the U.S. and Croatia, and the demonization of migrants, minority populations, left-liberal values, and women’s reproductive rights. We feature activist and creative practices that serve as models for galvanizing an engaged citizenry.
While we publish standard formats, we specialize in small 4.25×6.25” format books in the style of the Haldeman-Julius “Little, Blue Books,” meant to democratize learning by bringing imminently readable and perfectly accessible political texts to the public at a size small enough to be carried in a pocket and at an affordable cost.
